BRIDGEPORT — Harold “Red” Grogg, 90 years of age, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at
West Virginia University Hospitals, Ruby Memorial, Morgantown, WV.
He was born Feb. 4, 1928, in Lewis County, son of the late Opha J. and Mary Wilt Grogg.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betty” Chaney Grogg in 2014.
He is survived by five sons, Thomas A. Grogg and wife Deborah of Fairmont, WV, Daniel P. Grogg
and wife Carol of Bridgeport, WV, Harold Larry “Jeep” Grogg of Shinnston, WV, “Tink” Grogg of
Shinnston, WV, and Kevin Scott “Bug” Grogg and wife Kitty of Shinnston, WV; a daughter, Kathy Lee
and husband Johnny of Fairmont, WV; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two sisters,
Norma Haymond of Clarksburg, WV, and Sharon Wilson of Fairmont, WV.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Grogg; four brothers, Bertram, Russell,
Mason and Jim Grogg and one sister, Evelyn Grogg.
“Red” was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He retired as an equipment operator for King Knob Coal Company. Hunting the family property and
fishing local streams and farm ponds were passions he enjoyed with his family.
Friends will be received at Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV, on Thursday
from 3-8 p.m. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday,
February 16, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Alan Rosenberger presiding. The interment will be
held at a later date.

Sharon Elizabeth Wilson
FAIRMONT — Sharon Elizabeth Wilson, 78, of Fairmont, went to sleep in death on June 18, 2018.
She was born on July 24, 1939, in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Opha J. Grogg and Mary E. (Grogg) Riffle.
Sharon was a devoted member of the Fairmont Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where she was a full-time Evangelizer.
She will be remembered for her cooking, quilting, and as being a master of crossword puzzles.
She is survived by son, Timothy “Tim” Wilson and wife, Deb, of Fairmont; daughter, Tammy Hendricks
and husband, Ron, of Fairmont.
Sharon is also survived by a brother, Louis Riffle; and sisters, Nellie Riffle and Norma Haymond;
four grandchildren, Anthea Wilson, of Fairmont; Brandy Schmidt and husband, Anton, of Washington;
Erin Hudson, and husband, Jordan, of Fairmont; and Nicolette Hendricks, of Fairmont; and three
great-grandchildren, Ethne Hudson, of Fairmont; and Timothy Schmidt and Boaz Schmidt, of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Bertrum Grogg, Russell Grogg,
Harold Grogg, Mason Grogg, James Grogg, and Raymond Riffle; and sisters, Evelyn Fabiani and Vada Ramsey.
A memorial service will be held at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1620 Fairmont Ave. on
Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. with Brother John Hudkins presiding.

First Sgt. Thurl Wilt Age 78, of Glenville, departed this life at 5:35M Thursday March 15, 2007 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following a brief illness.
He was born in Gilmer Co. June 3, 1928, a son of the late Mildred Wilt.
A 21 year careet Army veteran as a First Sgt, E-*, Thurl will be remembered for the pride in serving in the U.S. Armed Forces where he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, He was a member of the V.F.W.; former member Glenville Lion's Club and Knights of Pythias, and member Glenville First Babist Church.
On April 30, 1951, he was married to Betty Turner Wilt who preceded him in death Jun 23,1996.
From this union, a set of twin girls were born: Sonia Wilt of Glenville and the late Donna Wilt who passed November 17, 1999.
One sister survives: Patty and husband, Roger Williams of Vancouver, WA, four nieces also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00AM, Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Ellyson Martuary, Inc. with Rev. Bill Thomas officiating. Bural followed in the WV National Cemetery at Grafton.
