GRANTSVILLE — Russell Forrest Broadwater, 90, Grantsville, passed into the loving arms of his Savior on July 19, 2019, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Feb. 25, 1929, in Fairview, he was a son of the late Walter Broadwater and Sarah Catherine (Wilt) Broadwater.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Thelma Ruth (Rounds) Broadwater; and six brothers and sisters, Velma Broadwater, Irvin Broadwater, Alonzo Broadwater, Violet (Broadwater) Rounds, Melvin Broadwater, and Vera (Broadwater) Wiland.
Russell was a pit foreman in the Open Hearth at Bethlehem Steel Mill, Baltimore, for 40 years. After retirement, he spent his time gardening, hunting and enjoying the company of his family. He was a kind and loving man, well-respected by family and friends. Russell was a member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church.
He was a loving father to Marshall Lee Broadwater and wife Judy (Waggy), Manchester, and Norma Jean (Broadwater) Williams and husband Paul, Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Jeanne Marie Williams, Matthew Blair Williams and wife Kasey (Egolf) and Sarah Catherine (Williams) Stehlik and husband David; five great-grandchildren, Korina Williams, Logan Williams, Joseph Stehlik, Gabriel Cava and Emily Stehlik; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller Street, Grantsville, on Tuesday, July 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 24, 11 a.m., with Pastor Mert Maust officiating. Interment will be in the Grantsville Cemetery.

(February 28, 1958 - September 20, 2014)
Brenda J. Wilt, 56, of New Creek, WV, died Saturday, September 20, 2014 as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born on February 28, 1958 at Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of Bernard William "Bill" Helmick of New Creek and the late Patricia J. (Doll) Helmick. She also was preceded in death by a nephew, Matthew Helmick.
Mrs. Wilt was formerly employed with New Page Corporation in quality control with 35 years of service. She was a 1976 graduate of Keyser High School, was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department and also served as a parent volunteer with the New Creek Elementary School.
Brenda was an avid shopper, especially when it came to her grandchildren who were the loves of her life. She had four very special friends who were like sisters who would accompany her on her shopping "extravaganzas." Darlene Kisamore, Susie Shreve, JoEllen Eberly and Donna Lipscomb were her shopping companions and they have many wonderful memories and stories about their experiences with Brenda. An avid crafter, she also spent many meaningful hours with her Mom in creating many unique and interesting crafts.
Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband of 36 years, William J. "Bill" Wilt; two sons, Jason Wilt of New Creek and William "Billy Joe" Wilt, II and wife Vicki of Keyser; her two loving grandchildren, Kristin Wilt and William Wilt, III; two brothers, Jeffrey Helmick and wife Tammy and William "Billy" Helmick, all of New Creek; one nephew, Elijah "Blue" Helmick and two nieces, Jennifer Hottle and Stephanie Helmick.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, WV.
