James Dale Stiles
James Dale Stiles, 74, of St George, died Friday June 10, 2005.
He was born Sept. 21, 1930, on Limestone Mountain, a son of the late James Okey and Laura Melvina Spessert Stiles.
He was a lifelong advocate for agriculture. During his career, he served as a WVU County Extension Agent in Tucker, Braxton, Tyler, Calhoun and Randolph counties. and was a founding member of the Mountain Aquaculture and Producers Assoc. He served in German as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and later was promoted to the rank of Captain in the /army Reserve. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having served as Branch President of the New Martinsville and Gassaway branches. He was also a member of the Parsons Lions Club and the Tucker County Farm Bureau, was a past member of the Parson Kiwanis Club. Hendricks Ruritan Club, and the Tucker Country Development Authority. He was named Professor Emeritus of WVU in 1990 upon his retirement from the WVU Extension Services.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Esther Kerns Stiles, of St. George, six children and spouses Teresa Stiles Myers and Tony of Parsons, Deborah Stiles and David Hedrick, of Holly Meadows, James Mark Stiles, of Reedsville, Richard Dale Stiles and Joy, of Waynesboro, PA, Michael Wayne Stiles and Lori, of Martinsburg, and David Alan Stiles, of Gaithersburg, MD. 10 grandchildren; one brother Allen Zane Stiles, of Elkins; two sisters, Faye "Tag" Stiles, of St George and JoAnn Kerekes, of Barrackville; numerous nieces and one nephew.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Stiles Watkins.
Final rites were conducted on Monday June 12, at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home, with Elder ShoVanGilder officiating. Interment was at Limestone Cemetery, St. George.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Esther Kerns Stiles of St. George; six children: Teresa Stiles Myers and husband Tony (Parsons, W.Va.), Deborah Stiles and husband David Hedrick (Holly Meadows, W.Va.), James Mark Stiles (Reedsville, W.Va.), Richard Dale Stiles and wife Joy, (Waynesboro, Pa.), Michael Wayne Stiles and wife Lori (Martinsburg, W.Va.), David Alan Stiles (Gaithersburg, Md.), and 10 grandchildren. Jim is also survived by one brother Allen Zane Stiles of Elkins, W.Va., and two sisters Faye �Tag� Stiles of St. George, and JoAnn Kerekes of Barrackville, W.Va., numerous nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by parents Okey and Laura Stiles, and his sister Pearl Stiles Watkins.
The family will receive the comfort and support of friends on Sunday, June 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Monday, June 13, 2005, at 1 p.m. Elder Sho VanGilder will officiate and interment will follow at Limestone Cemetery at St. George, W.Va.
