James A. ‘Jim’ Johnson
SHINNSTON — James A. “Jim” Johnson, 87, of Clark St. in Shinnston, went to a better place on June 2, 2010, at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
He was born on September 22, 1922, a son of the late Worth and Olive (Stiles) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Martha (Tucker) Johnson. Also surviving are his son, Tommy Johnson and his wife Macel of Lakeland, FL; his daughter, Brenda Fluharty and her husband Rick of Lumberport; 3 grandchildren, Jeff T. Johnson and wife Michelle of Lakeland, FL; Michelle Curtis and husband Scott of Epping, NH; and Todd Fluharty of Bridgeport; 5 great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Rawyn Fluharty of Bridgeport; Cali, Jaden, and Caleb Johnson of Lakeland, FL; 1 stepgrandson, Jacob Pierce of Lakeland, FL; 2 sisters, Elma Row of Maryland; and Doris Duncil of Wheeling; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Stephen W. Johnson, Jr. and Walter (Stink) Johnson; 2 brothers-in-law, Bronson Row and Raymond Duncil; 2 sisters-in-law, Juanita Johnson and Anna L. Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps for 3 years during World War II attaining the rank of Corporal. He was employed at Fred Bice’s Oldsmobile and Service Station in Shinnston for 25 years. He retired from the Department of Public Safety in February of 1985. He was a longtime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Shinnston. Jim loved pitching horseshoes, doing woodwork, and gardening with his buddy Matthew Moore. He loved his family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, on Sunday from noon-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 7, 2010, at noon with the Rev. Olen Butcher-Winfree and Rev. Aulbert Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown. Military honors will be accorded.

Walter Carroll 'Stink' Johnson, II
SHINNSTON — Walter Carroll "Stink" Johnson, II, 65, of Shinnston, passed away at 7 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018, at his residence.
He was born in Clarksburg, June 28, 1952, a son of the late Walter Carroll and Juanita Lou McDaniels Johnson. On March 17, 2007, he married Debbie Martin Johnson who survives. Also surviving are his children, Melissa M. Johnson and her companion Branden Richardson, Shinnston, Jennifer Domas Tucker and her companion Brad James, Charlotte, NC, Richard P. Domas and his wife Kristen, Bridgeport, Melissa Dawn Vanderhoff Miller and her husband Billy, Oak Hill, Ron Vanderhoff and his wife Stacy, Gypsy, one daughter-in-law, Lisa Vanderhoff, Gypsy, nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, his siblings, Debra Johnson Ashcraft and her husband Gary, Saltwell, David Johnson, Shinnston, Chuck Johnson, Shinnston, Linda Johnson Andrews and her husband Doug, Enterprise, Cindy Johnson Fortney and her husband Sam, Enterprise, Rodney Lee Johnson, Shinnston, Lisa Johnson Hansen and her husband Dr. Adam Hansen, Bridgeport, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brian Scott Vanderhoff.
Mr. Johnson was a veteran, having served with the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He retired as a mainline motorman from Consol Energy, Loveridge Mine, with 35 years service. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping, hunting, playing poker, and all his cars.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 12, with Pastor Tim Sandy officiating. Interment will be in the Mt.
