She was born Nov 15, 1939, at Galloway, a daughter of Harry R. Sr. and Flossie Mae Powers Wilt.
She was twice married, first on July 20, 1962, to Cecil W. Kittle Jr. who preceded her in death Nov 17, 1965 in the Vietnam War. On June 5, 1970 she married Larry Earl Fortney, who preceded her in death March 18, 2006, at his home with his wife of 35 years by his side.
She survived by four sons, Rick Kittle and wife Jamie of Sully, Randy Kittle of Belington, Larry “Joe” Fortney and wife, Kathy, of Belington and Lynn and wife, Lisa Fortney, of Belington. Also surviving are one sister, Susie Stalnaker and husband Dave, of Elkins: one brother Harry Richard Wilt Jr. and wife Geraldine, of South Carolina; two granddaughters, Heather Kittle of Elkins, and Alexis Fortney of Belington; one grandson, Jalen Fortney of Belington; several nieces and nephews; her special nephew, Larry Phillips; her best friend Sue Phillips.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice Flanagan, Mary Ann Ketchem and infant Wilma Jean Wilt; and brothers, Paul Wilt and infant Roger Wilt.
Mrs. Fortney attended the schools of Barbour County. She worked several years in restaurants in Randolph and Barbour counties. She also worked as an EMT and driver for Belington Emergency Squad for several years. She later stayed with elderly people in Elkins taking care of them before she retired. She loved camping and fishing and was a Protestant by faith.
Friend will be received from Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 to 9 PM today and again Friday from 8 until 11AM, the funeral hour, when final rites will conducted from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kelly Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.

Obituary
Mrs. Geraldine Pope Wilt passed away, Friday, January 18, 2019, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence after a brief illness. She was 75.
Born in Bennettsville, on July 9,1943 to the late Floyd Jr., and Blanche Ellen Hood Pope. She was a member of Clio Church of God. She enjoyed helping others, prayer warrior, a dedicated church worker, and loved visiting others. She was employed by Weller in Cheraw, S.C. and was active over 20 years in the ministry.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory; husband Harry Richard Wilt Jr.; her four legged child, Peaches; son, Richard “Ricky” Wilt(Shana Renee Brown) of Bennettsville; daughter, Kimberly Thurman (Jim) of Bennettsville; sisters, Irene Pope Hinson of Cheraw and Wanda Pope Coates of Bennettsville, and former daughter in law April Nicole Baker; grandchildren, Makayla Wilt Moore, Aubrey Wayne Wilt, Hannah Nicole Wilt, Jamal Thomas and Caden Goodson.
She was preceded in death by parents, baby brother Bennett Pope.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Monday, January 21, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Memorial Park, officiated by Rev John Wilkes. A visitation will be held from 12-2 pm prior to service.
