Clarksburg, WV – Lowell Christie Brookover Sr. **, of Gypsy, passed away Thursday January 5, 2012, at Hospital Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Ivydale, WV May 31, 1923, the son of the late Christie N. Brookover and Ester Swiger Bookover.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Brookover, in 2006
He is survived by one son Lowell C. Brookover Jr. and wife Beverly of Gypsy; four daughters, Patricia “Tish” Harbert and husband Butch of Shinnston, Sue
Rogers of Lumberport, Mary Davis and Husband John of Florida and Debra Andrick of Fairmont 15, grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Nellie Milligan, Hazel Wilt, Virginia Cummins and Mary Moore, and one infant sister, Bernice; one brother,
Howard Brookover; and one great-grandson.
He loved hunting and fishing and putting up hay. He was employed as a coal miner and was an Army veteran, having served during World War II.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to all his grandchildren, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends were received at the Dorsey Funeral Home, &01 S. Pike Street, Shinnston, from 4-8 p. m. Saturday and 2-8 p.m. Sunday where
Services were held Monday, January 9, 2012, at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Robert Shingleton and Pastor Kevin Nuzum officiating. Interment was held in the WV.
National Cemetery.
