Joanne Stiles Perkins, 73, of New Haven, died Friday, the 10th day of January, 2014, at the residence of her daughter in Shelbyville. Born in AdairCounty, she was the daughter of Josephine Oliver Stiles and the late George G. Stiles, and the widow of James Franklin Perkins. In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Whelan. She was a member of the UnionBandBaptistChurch in Stiles, Kentucky. Her memberships also included the John Fitch Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and the Rho Chi Society. She was a trusted community pharmacist and a family historian; but she often said her greatest accomplishments were her seven children: Angela Girdley and her husband, Jim, of Fountain Run, Paul Perkins, of New Haven, Jay Perkins of Louisville, Elizabeth Spugnardi and her husband, Jim, of Shelbyville, Jennifer Gaither and her husband, Chris, of Louisville, Phillip Perkins, and his wife, Sharon, of Louisville, and Andy Perkins, and his wife, Crystal, of New Haven.
Other survivors, in addition to her mother, include her brother, David Stiles of Oklahoma, her aunt, Dorothy Stiles Miller of Versailles, and her many beautiful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, the 18th day of January, 2014, at the UnionBandBaptistChurch in Stiles with the Reverend Wyndee Holbrook officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Interment will be in the StilesFamilyCemetery in a private family service and at a later date.
