Mary Evelyn Moore
Mary Evelyn Moore, 93, of Washington, died Monday, September 5, 2016 in the Washington County Health Center.
She was born July 6, 1923 in Wana, WV, a daughter of Clarence Gurney and Grace Lee Stiles Fox.
Mrs. Moore was a graduate of Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville, West Virginia.
She was a member of the Avery United Methodist Church.
On April 14, 1942 in Fairview, West Virginia, she married Wilbert G. “Bill” Moore. Mr. Moore passed away on February 18, 1993.
Surviving are two children, William G. Moore of Denver, NC, and Susan C. Reese of Louisville, KY; two grandsons, Nicholas (Nora) Reese, and Kent (Susan) Reese; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters Edyth Weaver, Erma Dallum, and Eva Norwine.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the time of service Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, 420 Locust Ave., Washington. Rev. Jason Hefner will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Condolences may be left online at www.hummellandjones.com.

Mary Evelyn Moore, 93, of Washington, died Monday, September 5, 2016 in the Washington County Health Center.

Linda is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, John Jimmy Gemondo, whom she married on April 12, 1966.
She is also survived by her children, Jimmy and Pam Gemondo, Tony and Maria Gemondo, Joey and Becky Gemondo, all of Shinnston, Anna and James Jordan of Ashley, OH; 14 grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony, Alec, Michael, Jeremiah, Noah, James, Christopher, Antonio, Stephen, Ryan, Caroline, Natalie and Jocelyn; her sister, Sarah Minor and husband Randy of Shinnston; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her three brothers, John, Andy and Jamie Johnston; her sister, Anne Marie Razzano; and a grandson, Ayden Jacob Gemondo.
Linda attended Shinnston High School and went on to attain an Associate Degree in Interior Design from Fairmont State College. She also studied architecture design. She was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Shinnston where she was an adorer of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. She was also a member of the St. Ann Altar Society and enjoyed visiting the sick and shut-ins of the church. She was a former President of the Woman’s Club of Shinnston. Linda served Meals on Wheels in the Shinnston area. She also worked for the US Census Bureau and sold real-estate.
As matriarch, Linda made a home for her family where you could regularly find her sewing, doing crafts, cooking, baking and canning. With inspiration from her large collection of cookbooks, she enjoyed hosting family dinners, holidays and reunions.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, on Sunday from 1-8 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7 p.m. A time for remembrance will be held after the Rosary to close the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Shinnston, with Father Thomas Dagle and Father Karl Wohinc as Celebrants. Interment will follow at her family plot in the Pine Bluff Cemetery.
