FALL FROM HORSE ENDS IN TRAGEDY
Alfred Lyon Of Ayrshire Dies Of Injuries

Alfred Earl Lyon, well known Ayrshire resident, died Monday at the Spencer hospital following a brain and chest injury received Friday when he fell from a horse he was riding. Funeral services were held at the Curlew Methodist church with the Rev. Rasmusson officiating with burial in the Rush Lake cemetery. The Martin Funeral home was in charge. Pallbearers were David Kassel, John Kassel, John Swanson, Jonas Johnson, Lawrence Drennan and Joseph Antoine.

BORN IN 1893
Mr. Lyon was born Nov. 21, 1893 near Curlew, and was 51 years old at the time of his death. He lived on a farm near Curlew for many years, later moving to a farm near Ayrshire. In February, 1922, he was united in marriage to Annalena Peterson who, with their two children, survives. The children are Louise Anna and Fern Elizabeth, both of Ayrshire. He is also survived by seven brothers and sisters, they are Emanda Hall, of Mara, Minn., Jennie A. Thompson, Forest Grove, Oregon, Daisy M. Scriner, Winnepeg, Canada, Edward S. Lyon, Gilbert J. Lyon, Ida L. Grace and Vern F. Lyon, all of Curlew. Mr. Lyon was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

TRAGEDY
The tragic event which caused his death happened as Mr. Lyon was training a young saddle horse at his farm. At first the extent of his injuries was not known and he was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. His death followed after two days there. A township committeeman for the Triple-A program, Mr. Lyon was a sincere booster for the farmer and he gave generously of his time and efforts to promote agricultural progress.
He was well-liked by his neighbors in the county, who regard his untimely death as a personal loss among them. He was a friend on whom they depended and he was one of Palo Alto county's popular citizens, contributing much to the community in which he lived.
To his family and other relatives, sincere sympathy is offered in his death.

SERVICES SET FOR LONGTIME
PALO ALTO WOMAN

Ayrshire - Funeral arrangements have been completed for Mrs. Alfred Lyons, 63, a long time Palo Alto county resident who died Wednesday after a 46 day hospitalization at the Hamilton County Hospital at Webster City.
Services in charge of the Hitchcock Funeral Home in Laurens will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church in Ayrshire with Rev. Edward Moss officiating. Burial will be in Rush Lake cemetery at Curlew.
Mrs. Lyons is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jack Kundel of Ayrshire and Mrs. William Orr of Webster City.
